Dear Nancy, thank you for your comment. But I do not think that Dr. Mahbubani (who wrote the quote above) is forgetting America’s failures and sins. Nor am I. We just think that America’s sins do not deny the enormous good that America has done. Pardon me for saying this, but I think it is all too convenient for us to shrink America into its sins. We condemn Americans when they do this for other countries but we do the same ourselves toward America. I don’t think we should ignore the failures of this country. But it is only right to embrace and celebrate her strengths too. And I think Dr. Mahbubani is on the money with his comment.

PS: I’m not an American.

Great article. Although, for me, it’s a bit easier for me to understand the AA (Anti-Americanism) that hails from Muslim countries. I have a much harder time trying to understand the AA coming from other western developed countries. Or… I hear what they’re crying about, but it’s incomprehensible to free thinkers. No amount of sense, reasonability, or logic can be squeezed from their rants. All I see is hypocrisy, ignorance, and arrogance….. the same things that they charge the Americans with.

I just think that Canada and Europe uses us as a scapegoat so that they don’t have to look at their own problems. They are also jealous of the attention we get. It’s a very juvenile attitude to have and reeks of “short man syndrome”… really bad.

Anti-Americanism is the only acceptable prejudice left. And people are swinging from it like monkeys on trees.

My recent blog posts have been devoted to Anti-Americanism. I am wondering if we can gather some people together and create an alliance or blogring to fight against Anti-Americanism? If you’re interested, let me know?
